4th April 2012. Serial software acquirer, Canada’s Constellation Software Inc (TSX: CSU) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gary Jonas Computing Ltd, has completed the acquisition of Kestral Computing, a leading provider of software to the Radiology and Laboratory information systems industry in Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia.
With over 40 employees, Kestral was founded as a small family business and has since evolved nto an organisation with offices in 3 states across Australia, Auckland in New Zealand and an expanding national and international customer base.
Founded by Kevin Moynihan and Bob Hall in 1989, and specialising in best of breed solutions for Radiology and Pathology, Kestral has since become a market leader to the Australian and New Zealand health industry. Kestrel’s flagship product, Karisma, provides healthcare professionals with the tools to schedule examinations, book resources, batch Medicare claims, manage patient accounts and more.
Kestral will continue trading as Kestral Computing Pty Ltd with the same team of people. Jonas has appointed Kevin Moynihan, one of Kestral’s founders, to the position of CEO and he will continue to manage and lead the Kestral business. As part of the new team, Jeffrey McKee from Jonas Software Australia will join Kestral as Director.
Jonas provides enterprise management software solutions to the Club, Foodservice, Construction, Leisure Fitness & Sports, Attractions, Metal Service Centers, Moving & Storage, Education, and Radiology/Laboratory Information Systems industries. Within these nine vertical markets, Jonas boasts 27 distinct brands, all of which are respected and longstanding leaders within their own domain.
Jonas has over 15,000 customers, in over 15 countries worldwide. Jonas’ focus is on creating long term relationships with our customers and ensuring we meet and exceed their software and service needs. Its acquisition of Kestrel marks the entry of this former “clubs” software division into an increasingly diverse set of software businesses and for the first time, into the eHealth market.
The acquisition is the fourth Constellation Software has made in Australia, with Jonas Software acquiring lesuire software firm Centamen in 2010, and its Friedman software division acquiring Viewlocity and Markinson in 2011.
